The U.S. Department of Energy will increasingly focus dwindling energy-efficiency and renewable-energy funding on projects to make US manufacturing more energy efficient, and to develop energy technologies that can be built domestically, a senior DOE official said Tuesday.
“Going forward we are going to have an increased emphasis on making sure that we are investing in research, development, demonstration and deployment of clean-energy technologies that have a very strong chance of being manufactured here in the United States,” said David Danielson, the head of DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
“What we really need to do is get our whole portfolio of research, development, demonstration and deployment oriented around our competitive advantage,” Danielson said in an interview.
